THE WEDDING DANCE BY: AMADOR DAGUIO
The lesson of this story is that you should stay with someone you truly love in order to make them worthwhile. However, the narrative demonstrates that, even when it hurts, you must sacrifice your passion for your culture and traditions.
I feel sorry for Lumnay because she desperately wants to give Awiyao a child, but it seems as though she will never be able to have one. As a result, she feels unworthy, and in my opinion, nobody should ever feel that way.
I also feel sorry for Awiyao since he must have a son to carry on his legacy, but because of that duty and his adherence to tradition, he must let go of the person she truly loves. But if you truly love someone you can sacrifice your own happiness for the sake of their happiness.
